Beach Haven Retreat is located in Ocean Park, Washington, about 8 miles North of Long Beach.
Head down the street is Jimella's Seafood Market and Community Store for some great clam chowder and a wonderful dessert! (For those of you who know the area, Nancy & Jamilla used to own the Ark Restaurant in Oysterville) There is a Dollar store right next door where you can find those little things to take to the beach.
Originally founded by the Methodist church as a camp location, Ocean Park continues in the tradition of small seaside town, with restaurants, family-owned businesses and miles of beaches to welcome visitors. Join in the festivities of the annual Garlic Festival and the Rod Run to the End of the World. While you are in Ocean Park go back in time with a visit to Jack's Country Store. This unique store offers over 220,000 items and they say, "If Jack's doesn't have it, you don't need it!" Take your time, as it is a fun place to look around. Go to Adalaide's for a good book and a cup of coffee, or down the street to Full Circle Cafe. this is a local favorite where you won't be disappointed.
In this area you will also find antiques, and very nice art galleries by our own local artists.
Further down the Peninsula is Oysterville and Leadbetter Point State Park. the entire community of Oysterville is on the Historic Register. The Oysterville Post Office is the oldest continuously operation Post Office in the State of Washington! Don't pass up the gift store, you will find many local delights there. In August is the Jazz & Oysters Festival, well worth the trip.
Leadbetter Point State Park is located on the tip of the Long Beach Peninsula. The point's appearance changes constantly as dunes shift, become stabilized or erode away. The Peninsula is in its geologic 'youth' at Leadbetter Point, where it still continues to grow. You will find 4 hiking trails here as well as an abundance of wildlife.
Heading back to the house, stop by Bailey's Bakery. Actually, you should do that first thing in the morning. Everything there is so good they sell out early in the day.
Spend some time in the North end of the Peninsula, you will find it quiet and very quaint. Then head into Long Beach where you can ride horses, rent bicycles, go go-cart racing, see a movie or walk on the boardwalk. There is plenty here for you to do.
